Fostered by the love for wines, and frequent trips to Missouri wine country, Ken and Becky Miller left Kirkwood, Missouri in August of 1994 when they purchased the former Boone Country Winery.
While living in Kirkwood, Becky and Ken had also purchased a building lot in Kirkwood's Sugar Creek Valley where they planned to build their "Dream Home".
As most of us know plans can change. In the fall of 1994 they took a "leap of faith" and moved to the beautiful hill top property overlooking the broad Missouri River Valley in Defiance.
Becky's first comment after arriving at their new home and business was "since we won't have our dream home in Sugar Creek of Kirkwood let's take Sugar Creek with us." Sugar Creek Winery and Vineyards was born.
Their son, Chris Lorch, joined them as winemaker and director of winery operations. Chris spent years working in Napa California developing his winemaking skill resulting in the quality, award winning wines that Sugar Creek produces today.
Know that when you visit Sugar Creek every drop of wine has been cared for by a family who owns the land and lives there. They understand that a good wine begins with the grape and ends with the people who pour it.
